Well, not quite of course. Maybe I should have used Getting Money Out of the Government.
Not hyperbole either. Money is, as the saying goes, in the pipeline, and this is a real way to find out how to get some of it.
While the half-day seminar I’m suggesting might seem a little off the mark to those in film, video, and other digital media production who don’t work government contracts yet, you know you really should be looking for all and any income opportunities these days.
And if you already supply media or other products and services to government at the city, state, and federal levels, SCORE NYC’s upcoming seminar this Thursday, March 25th, is well worth checking out.
It sports an all-encompassing title How to Do Business with the Federal, State, and City Governments, so you can imagine this talk covers a lot. And it does, getting into specifics on what you need to do to market and compete for contracts, the different types of contracts available for various demographics, and more.
Held at the NY Public Library’s Science, Industry and Business branch, the minimally priced ($49 advanced registration) 2 ½ hour presentation could open your eyes to a new, and growing, market.
How’s that? Well, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, passed by Congress last year as part of the stimulus package, is finally starting to move money down into local economies. Groups like the Small Business Administration actively encourage you to apply. And like SCORE (the not-for-profit group of retired biz execs), the SBA offers free counseling to boot.
These are smart, info packed presentations. If Thursday’s presentation is anything like the one I attended today—a fantastic, useful talk by Jennifer Shaheen of The Technology Therapy Group on using social networking to promote your business–it will be a not to miss event.
