The grad cinema school taking shape at the Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard is coming together. The Barry R. Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema at Brooklyn College opens in less than a year – September 2015.
Reporter Mary Frost of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle has done a good overview article on where things are to date. She also snagged a couple of renderings of the design, one of which we’ve published here.
The question that I don’t see discussed all that much – and its not brought up here – is “Where do these hundreds and hundreds of cinema school graduates coming out each year across the US find employment?” We all know how tough it is to land production jobs. We know how hard it is to even get someone or some facility to accept your resume. Breaking in as a director…well, you’re really on your own.
Maybe the new Facebook VR Goggles will spark a renaissance in virtual reality production. Let’s hope that it or something does it. Soon.
