Award-winning editor Scott Gibney is the latest to join Cutters Studios’ growing NYC office. Some of his credits include Verizon, Ritz Crackers, Time Warner Cable, Doritos and Clearasil.
While Gibney is the kind of editor who can handle anything, he’s attracted to the funny and loves to stretch his comedy dialogue chops and tackle pieces with humor.
“Comedy unites us and the most memorable spots are the ones that make people laugh,” he said. “It’s a great feeling to be able to tell a story and do that.”
No stranger to the business, Gibney’s dad was the go-to editor for Tom Brokow and NBCs Nightly News. So he learned the ropes at an early age.
“As a kid, my dad would take me to the NBC studio and I would run around and try and play on all the equipment while he worked,” he said. “I saw how much he loved it, and I couldn’t help but be inspired by that. I really wanted to do it myself one day.”
He comes to Cutters Studios from Outside Edit and is excited to be a part of the NYC office.
“Cutters has an amazing brand and is the go-to shop in Chicago,” he said. “I saw the team that they built in New York and knew their tradition would continue here. I’m humbled to be a part of it.”
Gibney joins editors Steve Bell and Nadav Kurtz.
“He couldn’t be a better fit with the character and personality of the company,” Bell said. “He already has a strong roster of loyal, well-deserved fans, and it will be fun to watch him grow.”
And Elizabeth Krajewski, Executive Producer for the NYC office agrees.
“Gib is this really engaging, funny and inviting person,” she said. “Everything is possible with him, he just makes it happen. He’s one of those guys that draws you in and you don’t want to work with anyone else.”
