David’s audio blogs his third day at NAB 2010.
The first blog talks about the sense of optimism at the show that seems to be due to interest in 3D; a visit to Canon to see the new 1/3rd inch CMOS camcorders that answer one desire that David has had for the past 20 years; a change of opinion over the soon to release Red Epic camcorder; a Swedish wonder, small but striking; Running time a little over 8 min.

The second part of the day’s blog covers the selling of 3D, how it, as a complex new technology, relates to the long history of the introduction of HD; the excitement over 3D overshadows intriguing improvements in many devices such as Litepanel’s new touchscreen-controlled LED light; why Apple doesn’t need NAB; SMPTE missing in action; Sony doesn’t do technology introductions any more but is pretty good at stage shows; the Chinese turn up with copies of other companies’ technology, presenting long-term consequences to be investigated. Runs around 16 1/2 min.
