Day Two of D.W. Leitner’s podcast from NAB 2010 includes his take on Arri’s new Alexa, a less expensive yet still high-end digital cinema camcorder with a large, 35mm-size sensor. Scenes from Roland Emmerich’s new film on Shakespeare–which is using the Alexa–are described.

Fresnel-type LED lights from Litepanels are discussed. These low wattage LED lights, which can be focused, are potent: the 250W units can output light equivalent to 2K lamps.
Blackmagic Design’s Ultra Studio Pro
Finally, Blackmagic Design’s Ultra Studio Pro is described, a USB 3.0-ready, broadcast quality SD/HD capture and playback solution. This Australian-based company is one of the few that is stylish enough to follow Apple’s lead in bringing together good industrial design and breakthrough engineering, according to Leitner.
