Alkemy X has signed Glenn Holsten as part of its director roster. Most of Holsten’s career has been in documentaries, so it’s a bit unusual to have someone with those talents move into commercials. But a news release about his hiring notes that, for Alkemy X, he delivers a deft touch with his “heartwarming and affectionate documentary storytelling” according to a news release.
Don’t know Alkemy X? Before the end of last year they were known as ShootersINC, with separate companies ShootersTV, ShootersNYC, DIVE and BIGSMACK folding back into the new brand name. Guess they needed to do something, as they had been busy, expanding its space in New York will adding Don Sikorski as VP, development for content, Susie Shuttleworth as exec producer, Bex Schwartz as creative director and Dave Zeevalk as 3D VFX supervisor.
Holsten has a close connection with the company, since he’s worked with various editors, colorists, and sound mixers at the facility on his documentaries such as Saints of 9/11, which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival. His most recent national broadcast on PBS, The Barnes Collection, follows Dr. Albert Barnes’ rise to the top of the modern art world from his modest beginnings. Holsten is currently in post for another documentary Hollywood Beauty Salon, addressing mental health issues while set in a beauty parlor in Philadelphia.
